LATE GOAL LIFTS NEWBERRY PAST CRUSADERS

Tigerville, S.C.—North Greenville fell victim to a late goal on Wednesday night as the Newberry Wolves escaped Tigerville with a 1-0 victory over the Crusaders in a non-conference matchup.

The game remained scoreless until the 87th minute when Newberry's Bryan Davis' chip shot found its way across the line to give the Wolves a 1-0 lead. Until that moment the game had been a back-and-forth affair as neither team could find the back of the net.

Newberry outshot NGU 9-4, forcing NGU's keeper to make three saves. The Crusaders had several close chances but couldn't quite capitalize as shots sailed wide. NGU fell to 1-1 on the season while the Wolves finally found their first win of the season after starting 0-2.

The Crusaders will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Mount Olive to take on the Trojans at 3pm in the first Conference Carolinas game of the season.
