Tigerville, S.C.—The North Greenville Men's Soccer Team snapped a losing skid that dated back to 2013 on Thursday night with a thrilling 2-1 win over Brevard College.

The Crusaders took the lead 1-0 in the 24th minute on Casey Brady's one timer, the first of his career. NGU weathered Brevard's flurry of shots (9 in total), riding the momentum of a pair of highlight reel saves by keeper James Max Miller.

The Tornado finally broke through in the 86th minute as a header from Henrique Joaquim found the back of the net, eventually sending the game into overtime.

The extra 10 minutes remained scoreless and looked to be heading to a second overtime period until NGU's Andre Cakar broke free and took advantage of a one-on-one with the Brevard keeper to earn NGU the season opening victory in the 104th minute.

The Crusaders finished with 12 shots on goal including five in the 10 minute overtime period. Jonny Lind and Victor Labi both recorded assists for NGU as the Crusaders improved to 1-0 on the season.

NGU will host Newberry College on September 9th at 7:30pm in Tigerville.
