Belmont Abbey Hands Crusaders 11th Straight Loss
Belmont, NC – The losing streak reached 11 Tuesday as the Crusaders fell to Belmont Abbey 3=1.

The Crusaders were without the anchors to their midfield as juniors Thales Wieczorek and Ara Zadoorian missed due to injury.

Kevin Dougherty opened the scoring for Belmont Abbey in the 29th minute as he would connect on Jordan Gardner’s corner.

Clay Dimick would add to Belmont Abbey’s total in the 53rd minute from the penalty spot and add to his goal tally in the 60th minute as he would tap in Nick Fuller’s cross.

The Crusaders lone offensive spark would come on a moment of individual brilliance from junior Asa Wolfe as the forward would turn his man and let fly from 30 yards beating the keeper to the top corner for his first career goal.

North Greenville freshman Zacc Romano totaled four saves in his first career start, replacing DJ Baker who missed the contest due to a red card in the previous match.

The Crusaders (0-11, 0-7 Conference Carolinas) will host the Trojans of the University of Mount Olive on Friday, Oct. 17 at 3 p.m. in Pepsi Stadium.
