Crusaders Suffer Comeback Defeat To #4 Limestone
Tigerville, SC – The Crusaders losing streak has reached six to start the season as NGU fell to the Saints of Limestone College 3-1.

The Crusaders couldn’t have asked for a better start against the number fourteen team in the nation as Joel Johnson scored his first of the season on assist from winger Jonny Lind in the 28th minute.

The score line would reach halftime as the Crusaders defense held strong behind four saves from goalkeeper DJ Baker.  The second half would see Limestone’s high powered offense breakthrough however, as Harry Cooksley would score on an assist from Thomas Keen in the 61st minute.

A beautiful volley from Jorge Salvat would break the deadlock in the 65th minute.  The game would be sealed for the Saints in the 76th minute after an NGU own goal gave Limestone a 3-1 lead.

The Crusaders saw little offense after Johnson’s goal as Brazilian midfielder Thales Wieczorek‘s shot just wide of the right goalpost would be the Crusaders best opportunity to score in the second half.

The Crusaders were outshot 21-3 on the night as Baker was the star for NGU tallying 10 saves.

The Crusaders (0-6, 0-3 Conference Carolinas) will return home to host Columbia International University on Thursday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. in Pepsi Stadium.
