Mount Olive, NC – The North Greenville men’s soccer team opened up Conference Carolinas’ play with a one-goal victory over the Trojans of Mount Olive College on Saturday afternoon.
Sophomore Ara Zadoorian netted his first goal of the season in the 25th minute after being rewarded a penalty kick due to a foul in the box by Mount Olive.
The Crusaders scored once again in the 70th minute as Zadoorian assisted on a goal by fellow sophomore Brandon Harrison to give North Greenville a 2-0 advantage.
The Trojans tacked on a goal of their own in the 82nd minute to cut into the lead but the Crusaders held on to secure the 2-1 victory and their first in conference play.
Freshman DJ Baker recorded three saves and earned the win in 45 minutes, while sophomore Pablo Dongarra also recorded three saves in 45 minutes of action.
The Crusaders (3-3, 1-0 Conference Carolinas) will hit the road once again on Saturday, Sept. 28 as they travel to Banner Elk, NC for a contest with Lees-McRae College at 5 p.m.
