Charlotte, NC – Facing a familiar foe, the North Greenville men’s soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision at the hands of former Conference Carolina’s member Queens University of Charlotte on Wednesday night.
The Royals jumped on the board early as Thiago Andrade received a through ball from Felipe Netto an beat the keeper one-on-one to gain the 1-0 advantage that they would carry into the half.
Queens scored again in the 64th minute as Erick Suarez and Gersi Cilingiri connected to go ahead 2-0 before Andrade scored his second goal of the game in the 69th minute to seal the shutout victory for the Royals.
Freshman DJ Baker recorded four saves in 72:01 minutes of play, while sophomore Pablo Dongarra returned from injury to log 17:59 minutes in goal and total one save as the Royals outshot North Greenville 23-8 in the game.
The Crusaders (2-3, 0-0 Conference Carolinas) will open conference play against Mount Olive College on Saturday, Sept. 21 in Mount Olive, NC at 3 p.m.
