Crusaders Shutout By Lander On The Road

Greenwood, SC – Looking to rebound from its first loss of the season, the North Greenville University men’s soccer program dropped an 8-0 decision at the hands of Lander University on Saturday night.

Lander got the scoring started in the 5th minute of action when Kevin Durand scored his second goal of the season for the early advantage. Durand scored twice more, in both the 13th and 16th minutes, to give the Bearcats and early 3-0 lead.

The Bearcats scored once more in the 23rd minute of action to gain a 4-0 edge heading into the halftime intermission.

After a red card by a Crusader defender, Lander scored goals in the 54th, 69th, 75th and 90th minutes as North Greenville played a man down for much of the second half leading to the eight goal defeat.

North Greenville keeper DJ Baker recorded a career-high 10 saves as Lander totaled 31 shots in the contest compared to just four by the Crusaders.

The Crusaders (2-2, 0-0 Conference Carolinas) will travel to Charlotte, NC for a matchup with Queens University on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 7:30 p.m.
