Tigerville, SC – In a highly contested match with 36 combined fouls, the North Greenville men’s soccer program dropped its first contest of the 2013 with a 1-0 loss at the hands of Emmanuel College on Tuesday night.
The Crusaders and Lions were scoreless for the entire first half with neither team able to gain a decisive edge.
However, Emmanuel netted a goal in the 66th minute from the foot of midfielder Austin Grudda to go ahead by one goal. The Crusaders battled back but were unable to overcome the slim deficit.
The Lions outshot the Crusaders 9-6 as DJ Baker recorded three saves in the loss.
North Greenville will be in action again on Saturday, Sept. 14 in Greenwood, SC against Lander University at 7 p.m.
