Columbia, SC - Despite a first half lead, the Crusader soccer program played to a 2-2 draw with Columbia International University in double overtime on Tuesday night.
The Crusaders jumped out to an early lead on a goal from sophomore Thales Weiczorek in the 20th minute of play. The goal was Wieczoreks third score of the season. Senior midfielder Ben Montry netted his fourth goal of the season in the 30th minute of play to give North Greenville the 2-0 lead at the half.
However, the Rams scored goals in the 57th and 69th minutes of play to force overtime. With neither team gaining a decisive edge, the Crusaders and Rams played toa 2-2 draw upon completion of the match.
Sophomore keeper Pablo Dongarra recorded two saves as North Greenville outshot Columbia International 24-11 in the contest.
The Crusaders (3-7-1, 1-3 Conference Carolinas) will host Conference Carolinas' member Barton College on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 3 p.m. in Pepsi Stadium.
