Sailfish Down Crusaders In Tigerville
Tigerville, SC – The Crusaders fell for the second straight game, this time a 5-2 loss to the Sailfish of Palm Beach Atlantic University on Monday afternoon in Pepsi Stadium.
The Sailfish gained an early lead on a successful penalty kick by forward Kenny Hogg in the 20th minute play before sophomore Doug Cordi tied the game at one goal apiece in the 36th minute.
From that point on Palm Beach Atlantic took control on the offensive side of the field, scoring three more goals, one more from Hogg and two from midfielder Lucas Coutinho, to take a 4-1 lead into the half.
Sophomore Thales Wieczorek scored North Greenville’s second goal of the game on a penalty kick in the 58th minute of play after a foul in the box. However, the Sailfish netted on more goal in the 72nd minute of play to secure the 5-2 victory.
Palm Beach Atlantic totaled 19 shots in the game, compared to just eight for the Crusaders and freshman keeper DJ Baker recorded seven saves in the contest.
North Greenville (3-5, 1-1 Conference Carolinas) will hit the road on Saturday, Oct. 5 for a conference matchup with Limestone College at 4 p.m. in Gaffney, SC.
