Hartsville, SC – The North Greenville University men’s soccer team ended its Conference Carolinas winning streak with a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Coker College on Wednesday night.
The Cobras scored their first goal of the evening in the 22nd minute as Niko Tirkkonen scored on an assist from Carlos Recinos to put the Cobras ahead 1-0.
Tirkkonen was once again the beneficiary of an assist from Recinos, this time a header placed in the back of the net in the 40th minute to put Coker ahead by two before Recinos recorded his third assist of the game in the 42nd minute as Eric Stiefield gave the Cobras a 3-0 lead that lasted until the final whistle.
Senior goalkeeper Justen Braddock had three saves in the first 45:00 of action before giving way to freshman Pablo Dongarra who played the final 45:00 of the game as the Crusaders were outshot 15-4 in the game.
North Greenville (6-6-1, 5-4 in conference) now sits in fourth place overall in the conference with first place Limestone College making its way to Tigerville on Friday, Oct. 19 for the final regular season match of 2012 beginning at 7 p.m.
