Tigerville, S.C. – Montreat College scored three goals in each half to steal a 6-3 victory from North Greenville in Pepsi Stadium.
“Tonight was just one of those games where if something could have gone wrong, it did,” said head coach Chad Gfeller.
Three early goals by the Cavaliers led to 3-0 halftime deficit for the Crusaders that they were unable to overcome.
However, the Crusaders fought back with two early goals in the second half. Ben Montry scored North Greenville’s first goal in the 54th minute on an assist from Wil Pickel. Senior captain Chris Williams scored just seven minutes later to put the Crusaders within one.
A foul in the box led to a Montreat penalty kick to put the Cavaliers up 4-2 and they would score two more goals to seal the victory.
Marcus Krall scored North Greenville’s third and final goal in the 70th minute.
The Crusaders next game will be Monday, November 1, in Atlanta, GA against Palm Beach Atlantic University at 1 p.m.
