Tigerville, SC – In a physical game that saw a combined six yellow cards, the North Greenville men’s soccer team lost to Lander University 2-1 in overtime.
“Our guys played their hearts out and deserved a win,” said head coach Chad Gfeller. “This game goes a long way in showing how far our program has come.”
The Crusaders took an early lead in the 33rd minute when Zach Brownfield scored his first goal of the season on an assist from Dustin Williams.
North Greenville would lead 1-0 until a goal by the Bearcats evened the score in the 73rd minute of play. The teams went into an overtime period where Lander secured the victory with a goal in the 93rd minute.
The Crusaders, now 6-6, will take on Montreat College next Wednesday, Oct. 27 at 4 p.m.
