Crusaders control Hawks

Murfreesboro, NC – The Crusaders rebounded from a tough loss to Mount Olive College to defeat Chowan University on Saturday afternoon 2-0.

“We had a great team effort this afternoon,” said head coach Chad Gfeller. “I’m excited to see how the guys are growing each game.”

The Crusaders controlled the entire game on both sides of the ball. North Greenville was able to fire 36 shots compared to only six by Chowan.

Chandler Patterson began the scoring for North Greenville as he took a cross from Marcus Krall and sent it far post to put the Crusaders up 1-0 in the 32nd minute. The goal ties Patterson for the team lead with four goals.

Alex Redding put the game away for the Crusaders as he scored an unassisted goal in the 60th minute for his third of the season.

The Crusaders, now 6-5 on the season, will host Lander University on Wednesday, Oct. 20 in Pepsi Stadium at 7 p.m.
