Tigerville, SC – In a back-and-forth contest, the North Greenville men’s soccer team was beaten in overtime by Mount Olive College 3-2 Friday afternoon.
“We came up on the short end of a well fought game,” said head coach Chad Gfeller. “I’m proud of the way our guys played.”
After a first half that saw neither team gain any offensive momentum, Mount Olive scored the game’s first goal in the 48th minute to take a 1-0 lead.
Freshman Alex Redding evened up the score in the 57th minute when he received a pass from Jonathan Restrepo to make the score 1-1.
The game would go into overtime where the Trojans scored the winning goal in the games 98th minute.
The Crusaders will look to rebound next Saturday in Murfreeboro, NC against Chowan University at 4 p.m.
