Tigerville , S.C. – On Wednesday, the North Greenville men’s soccer team took on a physical Erskine College in Pepsi Stadium. The Crusaders were unable to capitalize on scoring opportunities and fell to the Flying Fleet 3-0.
“It seemed as though we had a lack of intensity out there,” said head coach Chad Gfeller. “The guys played hard but we just missed some opportunities to change momentum early in the game.”
Erskine scored the game’s first goal in the 15th minute and never looked back. North Greenville was outshot 10-7 and was unable to find any room to get quality shots against a tough Flying Fleet defense.
Erskine would score again in the 35th minute to make the halftime score 2-0 and once more in the second half to steal the victory form North Greenville.
“It is a discouraging loss but we are excited about the rest of the schedule ahead,” said Gfeller.
The Crusaders (3-3) will be on the road Saturday, Sept. 25 against in-state rival Southern Wesleyan University. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
