The North Greenville men’s soccer team took the field for the second time in 2 days Saturday for a match against Tennessee.
During the fall, Saturdays are usually reserved for college football however the Crusaders would make this Saturday a memorable one for NGU soccer fans as they defeated the Crusaders of Tennessee Temple 15-1.
North Greenville started the scoring early and the Crusaders kept scoring.
Jonathan Restrepo opened flood gates scoring in the first minute of the game with an assist from Max Duarte. Juan Carlos Aguilera added a second goal in the 6th minute with an assist from Seth Snyder. NGU scored 4 more goals within a ten minute span. Those goal scorers in this impressive 10 minute span were, Chandler Patterson (10th minute), Jonathan Restrepo who scored 2 goals in a 3 minute span (13th/15th minutes), and Seth Snyder (16th minute).
Other goal scorers for the Crusaders were, Joel Watkins, Josh McCorkle, Cameron Neal, and Max Duarte. The leading goal scorer for the Crusaders was Jonathan Restrepo who scored 3 goals on the day. Juan Carlos Aguilera, Chandler Patterson, and Max Duarte all scored 3 goals.
Max Duarte and Seth Snyder lead the team with 2 assists a piece. Other players with assist included Jonathan Restrepo, Joel Watkins, Cameron Neal, David Frazao, Marcus Krall, and David Towns. The lone goal for Tennessee Temple came on an unassisted goal in the 44th minute. Goal Keeper Justen Braddock posted one save.
“It is extremely hard to find any negatives after a game like we had today” said head coach Chad Gfeller, “but you can learn just as much from a win as you can a loss.” The Crusaders next match will be October 2nd when they play Anderson University in Anderson, South Carolina. Game time set for 7pm.
