CRUSADERS AND WARRIORS COME UP SNAKE EYES

Tigerville, S.C. –
As of now, North Greenville has no set rival. Some would say Charleston Southern would be a rival for the football team. If you ask the men’s soccer team, the definitive answer would be Southern Wesleyan University.

The two schools renewed the annual match tonight at Pepsi Stadium in Tigerville.
North Greenville (2-3) entered the game coming off a 5-2 loss to Lander University. Wednesday night’s match would take a full 90 minutes and 20 minutes of overtime to end in a 1-1 tie. The Warriors took a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute. The Game would remain 1-0 until the 48th minute when Manuel Izguierdo scored on an assist from Jonathan Restrepo.
The two teams would trade shots on goal in the 20 minutes of overtime. Goal keeper Justen Braddock for North Greenville would come up with two game saving saves punching a header from SWU just over the crossbar, and clearing a loose ball in front of the net.  “I thought it was a great game by both teams” said head coach Chad Gfeller, “both teams played very aggressive and I thought our guys handle their pressure very well.”
The next game for the Crusaders will be September 26th, at home against Tennessee Temple.
