Crusaders fall 4-2 to Clayton State

TIGERVILLE, SC- Clayton State University scored three first-half goals en route to a 4-2 victory over North Greenville University in NCAA Division II action Wednesday afternoon at Pepsi Stadium.

Hailab Habtom opened up the scoring for the Lakers in the eight minute off an assist by Kevin Crooks. Bruno Contardo tied the match for the Crusaders five minutes later at the 13:00 mark. Tyler Pegues provided the assist.

Crooks turned right around with and scored a goal in the 14th minute to give Clayton State the lead once again. Daniel English was credidted with the assist.

Matthias Faublas scored the fourth goal of the match at the 16:00 mark off an assist by Johnny Lara.

Danny Cobb put the Crusaders on the board again in the 75th minute to pull North Greenville within one goal, but Habtom gave the Lakers some insurance in the 85th minute with a goal assisted by Dean Gilewicz.

Clayton State improves to 5-7, while North Greenville falls to 4-6. The Crusaders will be back in action October 14th at Reinhardt College.
