Crusader soccer wins NCCAA South Regional Championship

MONTGOMERY, AL- It took a little extra time, but North Greenville's men's soccer team won the National Christian College Athletic Association South Regional Championship. The Crusaders were down 2-0 at halftime to Palm Beach Atlantic, but Danny Cobb scored two second-half goals to tie the game in regulation. The two teams played a scoreless overtime period. Then, with five minutes left in the second overtime, Jimmy Sanchez scored on a header to win the championship. Cobb was credited with the assist.

North Greenville advanced to the championship game by defeating Piedmont College 2-0 on Friday. Reilly scored both the goals in that win. North Greenville's women's team lost in their semi-final match on Friday to Palm Beach Atlantic 5-3. Liz Boone, Whitney Doublestein, and Tina Miller scored the goals in that game.

Three Crusaders were named All-Region by the NCCAA. Reilley and Chris Blalock were honored for the men's team, while Doublestein was given the award for the women's team.

North Greenville advances to the NCCAA National Tournament to be held in Kissimmee, FL. The Crusaders will play a team to be announced on Friday.
