Men's soccer finishes off Emmanuel 3-2

The North Greenville men's soccer team defeated Emmanuel College 3-2 at Pepsi Field Tuesday afternoon. Emmanuel scored first and kept a 1-0 lead until 20 minutes into the second half when Marc Reilley scored off a diving header to tie the game. Then 10 minutes later, Joey Frazor, who scored the go-ahead goal against Emmanuel last year, had a break-away one-on-one with the keeper and slid it in for a 3-2 lead. Gabriel Altmayer put the nail in the coffin five minutes later with what coach Chad Gfeller called "a brilliant finish over the keeper's head." Emmanuel rounded out the scoring with 30 seconds left in the game.

This also marked the first time in school history that the men's and women's teams swept a doubleheader. The women's team won 3-1.

"We have had trouble finishing all year, so it was encouraging today to see players stepping up and finishing opportunities," said Gfeller. The Crusaders will have their next opportunity to finish Thursday at Brewton Parker College.
