DUE WEST—After losing their starting goalie for the season due to an injury, and then having the back-up goalie out with an injury as well, the idea of a shutout seemed unlikely for the Erskine men’s soccer team in their match against North Greenville on Wednesday night. But the Fleet’s lone goal was enough, as freshman goalie Drew Annas (Winston-Salem, NC) got a little help from his friends in the 1-0 victory.

DUE WEST— The Erskine Women’s Soccer Team snapped a six-game losing streak with an impressive victory over North Greenville on Wednesday afternoon at Huggins Field, 8-0. Freshman Aisha Reid (Columbia, SC) scored five goals on the afternoon, including four consecutive. The goals gave Reid 11 in her inaugural campaign for the maroon and gold.

The Fleet scored early and often. Freshman Jessica Henry (
Duncan, SC) got the scoring barrage going 5:29 in when she took fellow freshman Virginia Walker’s(Columbia, SC) pass for an easy goal. Reid got her first goal at 16:51 on an assist from Henry. Junior Jamie Locke (Brentwood, TN) pushed the lead further at 39:57 with a goal assisted by Kimberly Barron (Sumter, SC). The Fleet took the 3-0 lead into the halftime break.

The second half belonged to Reid. Within a span of 14 minutes the freshman drilled in four goals to make it 7-0. The first three of those goals were assisted by freshman Anna Weldon (
Easley, SC), junior Jodie Locke (Brentwood, TN), and Walker. Her final goal was unassisted. Jodie Locke finished off the scoring off a corner from Weldon.
