Crusaders Take Down Wheeling Jesuit

Tigerville, SC - NGU achieved its second win of the season with a 16-6 victory over the Cardinal of Wheeling Jesuit University. After outscoring the Cardinals 9-2 in the first half, the Crusaders continued to play well seven more goals in the second half. Thomas Cecere led the charge with five goals and 12 total shots.

Less than three minutes into the game, Kyle Hunziker put the Crusaders on the board with his fifth goal of the season. After WJU tied the score at 1-1, Fletcher Steveson gave North Greenville the lead back with his fourth goal of the season. The Cardinals would again respond with a goal to tie the game again. However, NGU then ran away with goals by Derrick Shealy, Austin Dixon (2), Chris Carpenter, Austin Zumbado, Thomas Cecere, and Ethan Landreth to take a 9-2 lead going into halftime.

Cecere added two additional goals for the Crusaders to begin the third quarter. Brendan Sullivan would then put North Greenville up by ten points with his fourth goal of the year. Wheeling Jesuit would finally add a goal with eight minutes in the 3rd quarter, but Cecere would responded just one minute later with another goal for NGU. The Cardinals began the 4th quarter with a goal. With ten minutes remaining, Austin Dixon scored his ninth goal of the season to put the Crusaders back up by ten. Less than two minutes later, Matt Somjak put North Greenville up by eleven. Cecere added one last goal while WJU scored two to make the final score 16-6.

Next up for NGU is a trip to Tampa, Florida to face the Spartans of Tampa University on Wednesday, March 6th.
