MOUNT BERRY, Ga. — The North Greenville Men's Lacrosse program will again travel this fall to Berry College to participate in their third annual "Faceoff for a Cause" along with the men's lacrosse programs from Emmanuel College, University of Georgia, Piedmont College, Reinhardt University, Shorter University, and Young-Harris College on Saturday, Oct. 21st from 8:30 am - 6:45 pm at Berry College's Valhalla Stadium.
The event includes scrimmages between the teams, and a fundraiser with goals to raise $10,000 for the nonprofit organization Samaritans Purse to help aid in Hurricane recovery and relief efforts. The organization is a non-profit organization that responds to the urgent needs of families devastated by the natural disasters in the United States or abroad.
“We are thrilled to join in on the 3rd Annual Faceoff for a Cause at Berry College,” North Greenville’s Head Men's Lacrosse Coach Corey Struss said. “We have participated in this event each year, and it has done great things for our program and more importantly, for people that are in need. The competition will be really solid once again, and I am excited to see our guys compete for such an important cause.”
Berry College’s Coach Gilbert noted that special thanks are also due to the referees and Aramark Dining Services who have expressed their support for the cause. The referees will be donating their fees to Samaritans Purse, while Aramark Dining Services has offered to feed attending players free of charge. The previous two "Faceoff for a Cause" events benefitted the Wounded Warrior Project raising just over $16,800 in support efforts.
“We want to thank Berry College for inviting us to participate in the Faceoff For A Cause – I believe this is going to be one of the best events in the Southeast this Fall season, and it is encouraging to know that we are doing it to make a difference for others.”
