Tigerville, S.C. – North Greenville took an early lead on number one ranked Limestone but the Saints pulled away late to down the upset minded Crusaders 17-8.
North Greenville got off to a hot start, taking a 3-1 lead on an Ethan Landrith goal. The Crusaders also got goals from Blake Thompson and Jake Foster in the opening minutes of the game.
The Crusaders controlled the pace for much of the first half until the Saints scored five unanswered goals to take a 9-5 edge after trailing 5-4. The Saints scored the final four goals of the first half and the first of the second with 14:13 left in the third.
Goals were traded for the next few minutes as NGU continued to trail by three. Two goals by Jake Foster kept NGU in contention, making the score 10-7 with 3:25 left in the frame. The Saints again answered with a streak of unanswered goals, scoring five straight to put North Greenville in a 15-7 hole.
Jake Foster tacked on one more goal for North Greenville with 7:04 left in the match to cut the lead to seven. The Saints scored the final two of the game to improve to 11-0 overall and 3-0 in league play.
Foster led North Greenville with five goals on the day. Austin Dixon tacked on three assists. Braeden Dixon finished with four ground balls.
North Greenville will take on #14 Belmont Abbey on April 8th at 1pm.
