North Greenville downed by Wheeling Jesuit in West Virginia

Wheeling, WV—NGU dropped to 3-4 on the season on Wednesday after an 11-8 loss to Wheeling Jesuit University.

Bryson Palmer led the Crusader with three goals. Drew Warren finished two while three other players scored one goal. Matthew Sandoval recorded 13-saves in the net for NGU while taking the loss.

Chris Carpenter scored his only goal of the game for NGU with 6:53 in the first quarter as he evened the tally at 1-1. The Cardinals would take a 2-1 before Bryson Palmer pulled NGU even with his first goal of the game to even the tally as the first quarter winded down.

Alex Proly would give NGU its first lead of the game less than five minutes into the second quarter with an assist from Carpenter to make the score 3-2. Two unanswered from Jesuit would give the Cardinals the 4-3 lead at the half.

The lead for the Cardinals would balloon to four before NGU got back on the board as Drew Wassenaar took an assist from Christ Carpenter to make the score 7-4 with 2:19 left in the third. NGU would inch closer a little more than a minute left on a goal from Drew Warren. The Cardinals would answer with a goal in the final seconds though to put North Greenville in a two-goal hole as the game headed to the fourth quarter.

North Greenville struck first in the fourth as Bryson Palmer's second goal of the game made the score 8-6. Jesuit once again answered though with two goals less than two-minutes apart to take a 10-6 lead.

Drew Warren and Palmer would score once more for NGU in the final quarter but the Crusaders would come up short in the end as WJU scored its final goal with 6:57 left in the game.

The Crusaders will back in action on March 12th in North Canton Ohio as they take on Walsh University at 12pm.
