Tigerville, S.C. - North Greenville men's lacrosse earned the program's first home win Wednesday night, with a 12-8 win over Emmanuel College.
The Crusaders grabbed a 4-1 lead after one quarter as Sean Lemay got things started with his goal at the 11:01 mark. Emmanuel would even the score at 1-1 three minutes later, but the Crusaders scored three unanswered, including two from Drew Warren to go up 4-1.
Alex Proly would score less than two minutes into the second quarter to extend NGU's lead to 5-1. Emmanuel scored twice in the period, sending the two teams to intermission with North Greenville leading 5-3.
Drew Wassenaar would open the second half with his second goal of the game, doubling up the Lions who now trailed 6-3. Emmanuel would score the next three goals though, tying the game at 6-6 with 2:15 left in the third quarter. North Greenville made good use of the time, as Wassenaar and Hunter Burgett scored twice to regain an 8-6 edge for NGU.
The Crusaders would add four more goals in the fourth quarter, including goals from Matt Somjack, Chris Carpenter, and Ethan Landreth. Drew Warren also scored during the period, his third of the game.
Drew Wassenaar also finished with three goals, Wednesday while six other players scored one. Alex Proly led NGU with six assists. Jalen Bell set the table for the NGU offense winning 15 face-offs, and leading the team with 11 ground balls. Matthew Sandoval collected 13-saves in the net for North Greenville.
The Crusaders improved to 1-2 on the season and 1-0 in Conference Carolinas play. The team will host Tusculum College, Saturday afternoon at 1pm.
