Melbourne, FL—North Greenville dropped its first game of the 2016 season on Saturday with a 10-5 loss to Florida Tech.
FIT jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first quarter. North Greenville found itself down 7-0 after two quick goals in the second quarter before Sean Lemay scored NGU's first goal of the season to cut the deficit to 7-1. The Panthers tacked on one more goal before halftime to extend the lead to 8-1.
The Panthers carried a 10-3 lead into the fourth quarter. NGU answered two FIT goals with two of its own as Drew Wassenaar and Andrew Loach scored their first goals of the season.
North Greenville cut the lead to 10-5 in the opening minutes on the power of two goals, a second from Drew Wassenaar and Chris Carpenter's first of the season but the Crusaders ran out of answers as the clock ran down.
North Greenville falls to 0-1 on the season after the early season loss. The Crusaders will host Lincoln Memorial on Wednesday night at 7:30.
