Tigerville, S.C.—The Crusaders found themselves overmatched on Wednesday afternoon in a 26-1 loss to the second ranked Limestone Saints.
The defending national champions scored early and often, jumping out t a 3-0 lead on the Crusaders. Brandon Petter got NGU on the board with 6:17 left in the first quarter with NGU's only goal to cut the lead to 3-1.
The Saints locked down the NGU offense for the rest of the game as the Crusaders got off just 11 shots. NGU had 24 turnovers and was just 12 of 30 in face offs. The Saints picked up 30 ground balls while North Greenville had 15. Limestone would score eight goals in the second period to take a 14-1 lead into intermission. The Saints would score 12 unanswered in the second period.
Will Thornton had six saves for the Crusaders while Andrew Haudricourt had 10. North Greenville is now 1-8 overall and 1-2 in Conference Carolinas play. The Crusaders will travel to Lincoln Memorial University on April 1st for a 4pm game with the Railsplitters.
