Tigerville, S.C.—Drew Wassenaar led NGU with four goals and two assists, but NGU struggled on defense allowing 15 goals as the Coker Cobras earned a 15-7 win over the Crusaders Saturday night in Tigerville.
Wassenaar got the scoring started with his first goal coming with 13:45 left in the first quarter. The Cobras then went on an 8-0 run that extended into the second quarter.
NGU David Finney finally got NGU back into the scoring column with 8:49 left in the half cutting the lead to six for the Cobras. NGU would score once more in the quarter but Coker would take a 10-3 lead into the locker room for halftime.
Coker padded its lead in the opening minutes of the third quarter scoring three unanswered to take a 13-3 advantage. Wassenaar and Ethan Gray would keep the Crusaders in the game with consecutive scores to make the score 13-5 as the third quarter expired.
Each team would pocket two goals in the final period of play as Wassenaar scored his fourth for NGU while Dieter Treusdell earned his first of the game. The Crusaders fell to 1-7 on the season after the loss to the Cobras. NGU will host the defending national champions Limestone College on March 25th at 4pm.
