Boone, N.C. - The North Greenville Men's Lacrosse team was able to earn their first win of the program against the Conference Carolinas opponent Lees Mcrae College 16-13.
The Crusaders would get off to a quick offensive start winning the opening faceoff. The Bobcats would score the first two goals of the game making it 2-0. North Greenville would regroup and answer the two goals by scoring one of their own by Dieter Treusdell with an assist from Brandon Peter. Goalie for North Greenville Jared Stapleton would come up with a few big saves. With 6:17 left in the first quarter the Crusaders would draw even in the game again at 3-3 with a goal by Allen McBride. Just a minute later North Greenville would take their first lead at 4-3 with a goal from Dieter Treusdell.
North Greenville would carry their one goal lead into the second period. Both teams would trade goals keeping a one goal lead for the Crusaders at 5-4. With 6:58 left in the half the Lees-Mcrae would take back the lead at 6-5. The Bobcats would add one more goal to the score before the half. Lees-Mcrae would lead North Greenville going into the half at 7-5.
The Bobcats would come out attacking after half with a short 2-0 run to take the lead at 9-5. North Greenville would come marching back with eight unanswered goals making the score 13-9. The Crusader offense during the run would score three goals in 52 seconds of game time. The Bobcats would not go down quiet as they would come out in the fourth period tying the Crusaders at thirteen. North Greenville defense would shut out Lees-Mcrae for the rest of the game taking the last three goals winning 16-13.
Your Crusaders improved to 1-4, and will play next on March 12. This game will be in Marietta, Georgia against Lynn University, and is scheduled to begin at 7 P.M.
