Tigerville, S.C. – North Greenville senior Evan Gfeller tacked on a honorable mention All-American nod to cap off his collegiate golf career it was announced by collegiategolf.com on Tuesday afternoon.
The honor adds to Gfeller's stellar senior season in which he was also named to the Ping Southeast All-Region team as well as an All Conference Carolinas performer.
Gfeller led North Greenville this season with eight top – 10 finishes. Of those top 10’s, Gfeller claimed a pair of overall wins and carded a top-five finish in four other tournaments including a tie for second place in the Conference Carolinas Championships, helping lead the Crusaders to their first ever program championship.
Gfeller spearheaded a solid NGU line-up with a 71.2 in 17, total rounds of golf before the NCAA Southeast regional tournament. The best round of his senior season came in the team’s first tournament when he posted a 65 at the King Invitational back in September. The score was also the low score for the tournament and helped him secure the individual title.
The second round 65 helped set the tone for his final campaign as he finished with seven rounds of 69 or better and a total of 12 trips around the track shooting par or better. For the season, the senior captain finished with a 171 tournament total and an impressive under-par average in the first and second rounds.
Gfeller is the second NGU golfer to receive an All-American honorable metion.
