The Ocean Course – North Greenville men’s golf wrapped up its first tournament of the 2017 season on Tuesday with a seventh place finish at the Newberry College Invitational in Kiawah Island, South Carolina.
The Crusaders earned a seventh place finish after three rounds of golf against 16 other teams. Newberry brought home the title while Clayton State and Lenoir-Rhyne rounded out the top three. Other finishers in front of NGU included South Carolina at Aiken in fourth, Missouri St. Louis in fifth, and Georgia Southern in sixth.
Evan Gfeller turned in one of two top-10 finishes fore the Crusaders as he finished in the seventh position. Gfeller shot 72 on day one but dropped a few strokes in the second and third rounds shooting a 73 and a 75. His three round total was a 220.
Seth Robertson accounted for North Greenville’s other top finish as he finished the week in a tie for eighth. Robertson shot an 82 on day one, but rebounded in a big way on day two, carding out with a 68, the lowest round of the week for the team. Robertson’s final round score was a 71, giving him a three round total of 221.
Christian Constance finished third on the team and 47th overall with a three round total of 235. Constance shot an 81 and an 82 in rounds one and two but improved 10-strokes on Tuesday, carding a 72. Cole Hargett shot a 77 on day one and finished the tournament with a 79 and an 80.
Christian Dibert Finished the week in the final spot for NGU shooting an 84, and 83, and an 80. The Crusaders will be back in action on the 27th at the Richard Rendleman Invitational hosted by Catawba.
