Carrollton, GA – NGU men’s golf wrapped up its fall schedule on Tuesday with a 9th place finish at the Matt Dyas Invitational, hosted by the University of West Georgia.
Newberry College took first place while Belmont Abbey and West Georgia finished in spots two and three. Clayton State and North Alabama rounded out the top five while Lewis, West Alabama, and Young Harris took the other three finishes in front of the Crusaders.
Evan Gfeller continued his solid fall campaign, finishing first on the team and eighth overall, following two rounds at Oak Mountain Championship Golf Course. Gfeller shot a pair of 73’s on Monday and Tuesday, finishing with a 146 for a two-day total.
Seth Robertson turned in NGU’s only other top 25 finish, claiming a 23rd place finish. Robertson shot a 73 on day one but dropped three strokes on day two as he shot a 76. Chase Fisher finished in a tie for 43rd with a 77 and a 76.
Vijay Mishra and Ethan Breeden finished 57th and 63rd for NGU but turned in the two most improved cards for the Crusaders. Mishra gained eight strokes on day two as he shot a 75 following an 83-stroke performance on Monday. Breeden was the biggest mover for the Crusaders as he erased 13-strokes on Tuesday to shoot a 74, following his 87-stroke day on Monday.
The Crusaders will be back in action on February 20th when they play in the Newberry College Invitational at the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island.
