Concord, N.C.—The North Greenville men’s golf team opened up the 2014 portion of its schedule this week, taking part in the Irish Creek Intercollegiate tournament. The Crusaders finished the two day tournament with a final score of 614, which earned them a top 10 finish, with the 9th place card.
NGU finished 9th out of 18 teams, ahead of conference foe Pfeiffer, as well as the b-teams from Erskine and Queens. NGU was paced by Josh O’Neal and Tucker McDonald who both finished with a two day score of 152, squaring them up in the 28th spot. Same Goodnight and Joshua Hopwood also managed to tie each other, turning in cards with the final tally of 155, as they both tied for 40th. NGU’s Christian Constance finished with a total of 165, putting him in the 81st position.
North Greenville’s 9th place finish in Concord is the teams fifth top 10 finish of the season, and 18th overall under second year head coach Lew Soulsby. The top 25 finishes for McDonald and O’Neal marks the 5th and 4th top 25 finishes for the pair. The Crusaders will head back to North Carolina this weekend to take part in the annual Richard Rendleman Invitational in Salisbury.
