Greeneville, TN – Sophomore Joshua Hopwood earned his first career Top 5 finish, leading the North Greenville men’s golf team to a fourth place overall finish in the Tusculum Fall Classic
Lincoln Memorial took home the team title in the field of 12 teams with a two-day total score of 283-279-562, eight strokes ahead of host school Tusculum College (292-278-570) and 13 strokes ahead of third place Lenoir-Rhyne University (289-286-575). North Greenville (301-284-585), Tennessee Wesleyan (294-291-585) and UNC Pembroke (292-293-285) each tied for fourth place overall in the team standings.
The individual title was given to Lincoln Memorial’s Connor Froning who earned the top spot with a two-round total of 67-69-136 to edge out second place finisher John White (69-69-138) of Lenoir Rhyne. Hopwood led all Crusaders with a tied for fifth place overall with a two-day total of 71-70-141, the first Top 5 finish of his young career.
Danny Dippel (75-71-146) and Tucker MacDonald (76-70-146) each finished in a tie for 17th overall, while Jacob Harris shot an 81-73-154 to tie for 50th overall in his first tournament of the season. Sam Goodnight finished in 60th place with a score of 79-80-159 to round out the individual scoring the North Greenville.
The Crusaders will be on the course again on Oct. 15-16 when they travel to Pineville, KY to compete in the Lincoln Memorial Fall Invitational.
