Bristol, TN – The North Greenville men’s golf team shot a final round 292 to finish in second place in the King College Invitational.
After an opening round 298, the Crusaders improved six shots to finish 16 shots back of tournament team champion King College who finished the tournament with an outstanding two-day total of 281-284-565 to bring home the trophy. Milligan College (596), Erskine College (602) and Lincoln Memorial University (608) rounded out the Top 5.
In the individual standings, North Greenville sophomore Josh O’Neal finished tied for 2nd after a final round two-over par 72. O’Neal’s two day total of 70-72-142 was just three shot back of individual champion Adrian Kibsey of King College.
Junior Danny Dippel had his best tournament of the 2011 as he finished tied for 7th place after back-to-back rounds of 74 propelled him to a Top 10 finish. Senior Chancen Blackwood also recorded a Top 10 finish, his second straight of the season, after a two-day total of 76-73-149 left him tied for 9th place.
Freshman Tucker MacDonald improved six shots on the final day of play to finish tied for 15th after a two-day total of 79-73-152, while freshman Sam Goodnight finished 30th after a total score of 79-85-164.
The Crusaders will hit the links again on Oct. 17-18 in the Lincoln Memorial University Fall Invitational in Pineville, KY.
