NGU GOLF TEAMS FARE WELL AFTER FIRST ROUND OF MONTREAT INVITE

Brevard, NC – After the first day of the Montreat College Invitational, the North Greenville men held a one shot lead over Lees McRae with a 299. 

Freshman Josh O’Neal (Greenville, SC) fired a 71, which put him in second place, three shots behind the leader.   Weather permitting, the nine team event will conclude on the Glen Cannon Country Club course.


The NGU women, who were led by freshman Anna Padgett (Mills River, NC), who had a first round 84, were in third place overall as a team with a 382.  The Crusaders trailed leader Tennessee Wesleyan (359), and Spartanburg Methodist (360).  The ladies will also finish the tournament on Tuesday.


Other top scorers for the men were Andrew Beck (73 – 3rd overall), Harrison Martin (76), Danny Dippel (79), and Jacob Harris (84).  Other individuals who were in the tournament for NGU included Chancen Blackwood (76), Kyler Booher (79), and Austin Green (88).


For the women, other competitors included Raegan Ouzts (95), Denise Shirley (95), and Taylor Threat (108).
