Crusaders play strong on day one of NCCAA National Championship

Panama City Beach, FL – After 36 holes of golf at the Hombre Golf Club, the North Greenville men’s golf team currently sits in 11th place out of 18 teams competing in the NCCAA National Championship.

“This is a really tough golf course that requires tough shot making,” said head coach Jeff Pittillo. “The guys played well in the first round but slipped a few spots after a rough second round.”

 As a team, the Crusaders sat in 5th place overall after 18 holes but fell to 11th in the second round of play. North Greenville shot a team total 306-328 (634) on day one.

 In the individual standings, senior Andrew Beck was the top performer for North Greenville finishing the day tied for 11th after shooting 72-78 (150). Richard Smith followed close behind with a 75-81 (156) to finish day one tied for 23rd. Josh O’Neal, 82-82 (164), and Danny Dippel, 77-87 (164), are both tied for 56th heading into the second day of competition.

The tournament concludes tomorrow.
