After the clouds moved away and the rain subsided, the NGU men found their self in first place with an opening round team total of 282 and a two shot lead over host Tusculum College.
The team was lead by senior Andrew Beck & sophomore Danny Dippel, who both carded rounds of 69. Two shots back was senior Richard Smith at even par 71 & junior Chancen Blackwood at two over 73. Rounding out the group was freshmen Josh O’Neal at 4 over 75. The team standings are tight with 10 shots separating 9 teams out of the 12 competing. “I was really proud of how our guys played today & how they handled the poor weather conditions,” Coach Pittillo said. It was really solid day for us. The guys deserve all the credit. They have put in a lot of hard work on their games since our last event. The top 3 teams are NGU at 282. Tuscukun at 284 and Limestone at 285.
