Tigerville, S.C. - After finishing fifth in the Anderson Invitational last week, the Crusader men’s golf team returned home to Cherokee Valley Golf Course where the team sits second overall after the first day of competition in the NGU Fall Classic.
“The golf course was in excellent shape today,” said head coach Jeff Pittillo. “The pin locations were tough and the firm, fast greens made conditions tough to score low.”
After day one of the NGU Fall Classic, Tri-County Technical College leads with a total team score of 296. North Greenville is in second trailing by 11 strokes, followed by Brevard and Mars Hill.
“We got off to a slow start today,” said Pittillo. “Hopefully we can rebound and play well tomorrow.”
A member of the Ti-County golf team sits alone atop the individual standings after an opening round 69. North Greenville senior Andrew beck shot a 71 and left the course tied for second with Brevard’s Tom Rennie.
The Crusaders will take the course again tomorrow looking for an early season victory.
