Crusaders Take First Place at Cherokee Valley Invitational

Travelers Rest, SC – The North Greenville University men’s golf team took its second first place finish on Tuesday when Crusaders won the Cherokee Valley Invitational hosted by North Greenville University at Cherokee Valley Golf Club in Travelers Rest, SC.

The Crusaders finished ahead Limestone College, Mars Hill College, King College, and Brevard College. Crusaders turned in a team score after the two-day golf tournament of 580, while Limestone College finished a close second place with 620. Mars Hill College came in third with 634, King College with 636, and the fifth place took Brevard College with a team score of 640.

Crusader’s Brandon Coggins finished with the best score of 139 (73 & 66) and placed the first in the tournament. The second place from North Greenville University men’s golf team took Brad Caldwell who recorded rounds of 72 and 73 for a final 145. Danny Dippel finished in the third place from Crusaders with the total of 148 points. Other Crusaders participating in the tournament included Richard Smith who shot a score of 150 and Andrew Beck who placed the fifth place from North Greenville University men’s golf team with the total score of 153.

The Crusaders now have only one week before the last golf tournament in 2009/2010 season – Independent Collegiate Invitational to be held on April 12-13, 2010 in Etowah, NC. The tournament will start on Monday morning and run through Tuesday afternoon.
