Eatonton, Ga.—The 23 ranked North Greenville University golf team traveled to Georgia on Monday to play in the Bobcat Invitational placing 17th out of 18 teams in the three round tournament.
The tournament boasts 12 of the teams are listed in the top-30 in the latest GolfStat Division II Head-to-Head Rankings. The tournament features three of the top five teams on the list, and seven of the top-10 including the tournament host Georgia College and State team which is ranked second. After round one North Greenville was poised to make a run at the top spot finishing tied for eighth after shooting a team total 300.
The Crusaders added ten strokes to their score in the second round with a team total 310 dropping them to a tie for 14th place. In the third round NGU improved by two strokes shooting a team total 308 but cell to 17th place where the team would finish with a tournament total 935. The 17th place finish is North Greenville’s lowest finish of the season. The Individual leader for the Crusaders was Danny Dippel who finished the tournament tied for ninth place with a 220 three round total.
Brandon Coggins finished the tournament shooting a 227. Coggins was followed by Brad Caldwell who shot a 229, and Richard Smith who shot a 242. The Crusaders will take a short hiatus before returning home for the Cherokee Valley Invitational in which they are the host team.
