CRUSADERS FINISH FIRST DAY OF TUSCULUM INVITATIONAL

Greenville, Tn.- Two weeks after the first tournament of 2009, the North Greenville University golf team hit the links at the Tusculum Invitational in Greenville Tennessee. The Crusaders finished 3rd in the Anderson Invitational on September 15 and Brad Caldwell won the individual title.

The Crusaders looked to duplicate that success on the first day of the tournament but instead finished tied for 9th place. NGU shot a team total 305, 12 strokes behind tournament leader Tusculum College. The Crusaders battled partly cloudy skies and high winds making it a challenging day on the course for the Crusaders. The windy conditions showed in the individual scores for the Crusaders. The team individual leaders were Brad Caldwell and Brandon Coggins who both shot a 75. Other individual scores for North Greenville were Danny Dippel who shot a 77, Andrew Beck who shot a 78, and Richard Smith who shot an 80. “The weather kind of messed with us today” said head coach Jeff Pittillo, “we will take what we learned today and try to improve tomorrow.” The Crusaders will tee off the second and final round of the tournament tomorrow at 8am.
