CRUSADERS FINISH 3RD AND CALDWELL TAKES INDIVIDUAL TITLE AT ANDERSON INVITATIONAL

On Monday the North Greenville Golf team opened its 2009 tournament season at the Anderson Invitational in Anderson, South Carolina.

The Crusaders finished the first day in 3rd place in the team standings and Brad Caldwell was two shots off of the lead shooting an opening day 74.
Fighting cloudy skies and the chance of rain, the Crusaders finished the tournament tied for 3rd place shooting a team total 306, 8 strokes behind tournament champion Lincoln Memorial. Individually for the Crusaders, Brandon Coggins shot a tournament total 154, Danny Dippel shot a 153, Richard Smith shot a 157, and Andrew Beck shot a 156. North Greenville’s own Brad Caldwell finished the day with a tournament total 144 and the low score of round 2 with a 70.

Caldwell was crowned the tournament’s individual champion after winning a three hole playoff. Caldwell, a senior from Waynesville, N.C. (Tuscola High School) has now won 3 individual titles as a member of the North Greenville golf team. “It was a good opening tournament for us” said head coach Jeff Pittillo, “obviously I am extremely proud of Brad, but I am also proud of the team as a whole.”  The Crusaders’ next tournament will be September 28th and 29th in Greenville, Tennessee at the Tusculum Invitational.
