The North Greenville men's golf team entered the opening round of the Anderson Invitational as one of the more successful teams in Tigerville in the past several years under head coach Jeff Pitillo. The Crusaders are trying to build on that success during the 2 day tournament.
Pitillo is leading one of his most talented teams to date and to prove it the team posted a 305 third place finish on the first day two strokes off of the second place team Lincoln Memorial (303) and 7 strokes behind the leader Limestone (298). Individually for the Crusaders Danny Dippel shot a 76, Andrew Beck shot a 77, Brandon Coggins shot a 78, and Richard Smith shot a 79. The stroke leader for the Crusaders is Brad Caldwell who is two shots off of the lead with a 74. "It was a good day for us" said head coach Jeff Pitillo, "the guys played very well and we have put ourselves in a position to win on the second day." The Crusaders will tee off the second day of the tournament around 7 am looking to win its first tournament of the 2009 season.
