Tigerville, S.C.-After a strong showing on Monday finishing tied for 1st place, the Crusader Golf team looked to improve their play on the second day and take sole possession of first place to take the tournament title.
In order to do this the Crusaders would have to get hot on the frigid day in Tigerville. The men entered the day tied for first place with Limestone College. Both teams had finished the first day with a team total of 301.
For either team to take the tournament title, it would have to brave the less than spring like temperatures and gusty winds for the second day in a row.
Unfortunately for the Limestone Saints, the weather would not derail the Crusaders.
The NGU Golf team would come out and post a strong second day with every player shooting under the 80 mark. The leaders for the Crusaders on day 2 were Brad Caldwell and Andrew Beck who both shot a 2 over par 74. Other Scores for NGU were Brandon Coggins who shot a 75, and Harrison Martin and Richard Smith who both shot a 79.
The total team score for the Crusaders on day 2 was 302. The two day total for NGU was 603, 8 strokes better than the second Limestone Saints who shot a 2 day total of 611. Head Golf Coach Jeff Patillo says “He is extremely proud of the way his team performed over the two day event and is also extremely thankful for the participation of Limestone and the other teams that participated.”
