Anderson University leads 12th Annual BMW Collegiate; Crusaders tied for sixth

GREENVILLE, SCAnderson University shot an opening round score of 295 to take the lead in the 12th Annual BMW Collegiate Golf Tournament after day one. The 15-team tournament hosted by North Greenville University is being held at the par-72 Verdae Greens Golf Club. Presbyterian College is second with 297. Barton College (303), Clayton State University (306), and Queens University (306) round out the top five.

Kurt Owings (Anderson) shot 70 to take the individual lead, while teammate Adam Sheriff shot 71 to share second place with Stephen Harrison (Barton). Paul Butler (Limestone), Nick Kirby (Anderson), and Thomas Todd (Presbyterian) are in fourth place and two shots back of the lead.

Brandon Coggins leads the the Crusader contingency, shooting a three-over 75 to land in a tie 13th place. Brad Caldwell shot 77 and is tied for 25th. Nathan Irvin (78--33rd), Blake Hoover (81--52nd), Bo Ream (83--64th), Justin Bentley (89--82), and Kevin Yancar (92--84th) round out the field for North Greenville.

Second round action will tee off beginning at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday morning.
