Coming off a 2nd place finish in 2018, the North Greenville Men's Cross Country Program will be expected to repeat that performance with a 2nd place position in the 2019 Conference Carolinas Men’s Cross Country Preseason Poll. This season will feature two additional conference teams as the Erskine Flying Fleet will feature a team for the first time since 2016 and the Chowan Hawks are the newest member of the Conference Carolinas. With the departure of Jonathan Keller, who was the top-finishing Crusaders in all four meets last season, North Greenville will turn to seven returners and three freshmen to put together a strong 2019 season.
Brooks Hovis comes off a strong 2018 season, where he placed 2nd among NGU participants in the three events he participated in for the 2018 season. His best time was 17:32.6 in the Zaxby's Open. Hovis went on to win the Elite 23 Award, which goes to the student-athlete with the highest cumlative GPA at their respective championship site. The only upperclassman on the roster, Hovis will provide some much needed experience to the team in 2019.
Victor Shellhammer put together a solid freshman campaign in 2018, placing 3rd or better among Crusaders in three events in 2018. His best time was 17:05 in the Zaxby's Open.
Jacob Holcombe also put together a strong freshman season, finishing 5th or better among NGU participants in three events. He posted a time of 17:51.2 in the Zaxby's Open to begin the 2018 season.
