Cullowhee, N.C. – North Greenville Men’s and Women’s Cross Country teams wrapped up their first race of the 2016 season on Saturday with seventh place finishes at the Western Carolina Invitational.
Trey Stewart turned in the best time for the North Greenville men as he broke the tape in 17:22 while Kaleigh Roach paced the women’s team with a finish of 12:35, marking the only top 25-finish for either team.
Andrew Hill was second for the men’s team finishing two seconds behind Stewart with a time of 17:24 wile Austin Nobles was third with an 18:14. Jacob Grigg finished with a time of 18:25.
For the women, Cori Small ran a solid race in her collegiate debut as she finished 28th with a time of 12:37. Amanda Ward was next in line for the Crusaders with a time of 12:49 while Rebecca Watson crossed with 13:06 on the clock.
Shelby Wright finished in a time of 13:46 while Nayeley Valenciano crossed a few seconds later with a time of 13:52.
The Crusaders will not have to travel far for their next race as they head 20-minutes up Highway 25 to run in the Furman Cross Country Classic on Saturday, September 10th.
